What best describes your visit?

I have been recently diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and I’d like to discuss treatment options.

What to Ask Your Doctor

  • What medicines can I take to control my AFib? What if I can’t take blood thinners?

Your doctor can tell you which medication options might be right for you and what alternative treatments are available.

  • I have other health conditions. How do I manage them with my AFib?

Your doctor will look at your complete health history to make a treatment plan that works for you.

  • What things trigger AFib?

Knowing the triggers for this condition will help you take steps to prevent future episodes.

  • What type of AFib do I have, paroxysmal, persistent, or permanent?

The type of AFib you have will determine what type of treatment you need.

  • What lifestyle changes do I need to make to control my AFib?

Your health care team can explain things you can do to keep your heart as healthy as possible.

I am currently treating atrial fibrillation, and I’m still experiencing symptoms.

Based on your current symptoms and your heart health history, your doctor will judge the progress of your AFib and the type you currently have.

  • Will I need a procedure to get my heart rate and rhythm back to normal?

There are several treatments available for AFib that doesn’t respond to medication. Your doctor will let you know your options.

  • What’s my risk of stroke?

Your chances of a stroke depend on several things along with your AFib. Your doctor can give you a complete picture and advise you on your next steps.

  • How will I know when to call 911?

Your doctor can let you know what symptoms could mean an emergency and when to seek immediate help.

  • What procedure would be best to treat my AFib?

If a procedure is necessary, your doctor will go over your options with you and recommend the procedure that would most help to treat your AFib.
